Getzoe.com  Month 77
June/July 05
With graduation in the books, it was time to concentrate on my
final ballet recital.  This one was at a theater on the UC-Irvine
campus and they even sold tickets.  That's me in the middle.
To celebrate after the show, Mom and Dad took us to Sabatino's
in Newport Beach.  We like this place because there's lots of
space to run around like goofballs before we eat our pasta.
Little Bigsy loved the show (pretty girls
a-plenty) and was nice enough to buy me some
roses for after the show.  Now isn't that nice?
OK, now this was soooooooooooo cool.  I got to go on my first
week-long summer camp to learn how to be a cheerleader.
Here we are in action doing a little cowgirl routine.
I loved learning the moves--especially the "flying star", which
I can now execute to perfection on a nightly basis.  I sure hope
the old man can save up enough money for me to go next year.
After this week, my great kindergarten friends will begin
leaving the school.  I don't go until next month but it was still
hard to have to say good bye to some of my Montessori pals.
At the end of the month, it was a little bit sad
when Miss Sarah had a group good bye circle in
my class.  We got her a photo album of us kids.
We went around the room and everyone got to talk about what
they would miss.  And even a lot of the parents spoke.  I think
Mom and Dad were too choked up to say anything that day.
This is my final shot with Syd while classmates at University
Montessori.  We're going to different elementary schools this
fall.  But we'll still try to see each other every couple of weeks.
This year's 4th of July was pretty quiet.  Dad had been sick for
a couple of days (lots of moaning and groaning upstairs) but he
sucked it up to take me out for fireworks for the big night.
Bigsy fell asleep late in the day, so mom stayed home to keep
him company.  Dad and I went to Aliso's main park and
watched their great fireworks show under our blankets.
OK, enough sad stuff--let's party!!!  Sarah's mom had a huge
graduation party at their neighborhood pool and tons of kids
showed up to play in the pool.  We had a real blast that day.
Here I am with my buddy Jojo.  We became best of pals during
kindergarten and I really hope that we can keep in touch.
She's a crazy goofball rock star princess, just like me.
Now I'd like to welcome you to the best day of my life so far
(and one of daddy's all-time favorites, right after Super Bowl
36).  It started when dad picked me up and got my hair cut.
With my hair perfectly styled with curls and flowers, it was on
to get my nails manicured and painted.  OK, is that not the
happiest little smile you've ever seen in your life?
After shopping, we cruised over to The Cheesecake Factory for
dinner.  I had some delicious pasta and bread--it was so good.
What's next dad--oh, a new outfit at Nordstrom
you say?  Sounds good to me.  I think I'll go
with Roxy this time around.  Bill me, tiger.
Soon we were sharing the air
with my favorite tv/movie/rock
star in the world.  We danced
to every song. What a night.
Now I know dad was trying to impress me and all, but what in
the world is all over my taquitos?  Anyway, at this point, I
could hardly wait.  It was almost time for...HILARY DUFF!!!!
That said, I'd like you to show me a single olympian who can
shoot up out of the water up into the air like this.  Every once
in a while, dad eats his wheaties and does "rocket launchers".
OK, I know that the olympic swimmers don't
usually go with the flower frames but I'm more
about fashion than athletic prowess anyway.
One, two, three...LOOK OUT BELOW...INCOMING!!!
Hey, it looks like I'm sitting on a chair in mid air.  How cool.
Well, thanks for stopping by.  I'm
having a great summer this year--lots
of visits to the pool and beach.  And it
seems like Bigsy's suddenly a boy and
not a baby anymore.  We're having
lots of fun together.  Take care.

                               Zobo's Quote of the Month
I don't really have a zany Zobo quote this month.  Just something Zoe said that I
personally always want to remember.  And she never even said a word...she
didn't have to.  It happened at the Hilary Duff concert.  After about 3 or 4
songs, with the reality of being in the same place with her idol finally sinking in,
Zoe looked up at me and gave me the sweetest, most appreciative look and then
hugged my leg for dear life.  It was the kind of unspoken moment that can only
be shared between a father and a daughter.  Well worth the price of admission.
