Maui Trip
2007
Our arrival in Maui was met with lots of excitement from Bigs.
After eight hard years of raising little
kiddies and working hard at demanding jobs,
the Jacko family finally took an official
vacation.   And it was awesome, thanks to a
little help from Gramma Cookie and Big Al.
Bigs contemplates life from the hotel balcony on day one.
This was the view from our hotel upon check-in.  A huge luau!!
After checking out at the Maui Prince, we hit the Cookie Condo.
The Cookie Condo is quite the special place.
Still on LA time, Craig & Zoe get up super early to see the pool.
Later that day, we came back to get some sun and slurp water.
Here's the view from The balcony just about every night.
Sunday morning arrived and it was time for Easter Brunch.
The kids had no idea that the Easter Bunny would be in Wailea.
During this trip, Zoe learned to boogie.
Here she is making her way into the water.
And here she is making her way back.
Dad did some work in the water too and took a beating.
By The end of the trip, he'd signed on with O'Neill to go pro.
Here's Bigs looking very cute behind some lattice shadows.
Zoe liked relaxing on the condo balcony.
One day we ventured into Lahaina to go to Longhi's Restaurant.
Dad used to come here when he was a kid and eat Shrimp Longhi.
Here's Zoe near a massive tree in the middle of Lahaina.
After lunch we went to down to the wharf to check stuff out.
We decided to ride on a real submarine in the ocean.
Here's the sub meeting us in the ocean for a ride.  It was great.
Zoe doing one of her custom poses at the condo.
Dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise was tasty.
Zoe and Bigs at the Marriott Luau--Bigs starting to get itchy.
Bigs had to go home but Zoe and I stayed to watch the show.
The ocean might as well have been Satan to young Bigsy.
But while Bigs dug in the sand, Dad and Zoe worked the waves.
Here's Zoe on The beach again--quite the budding little surfer.
Two rats having lunch at Leilani's in Kaanapali.
Two rats outside of the Maui Aquarium--highly recommended.
It's not a huge aquarium but there are lots of funky creatures.
One day we went to the north side to see the windsurfing area.
OK, can there be an uglier animal on the planet?
Zoe alone in the water during a desolate morning beach visit.
Come on, Dad--why don't we just move into the condo forever!
The train was pretty cool and took a pit stop to unload some steam.
Thursday night meant the arrival of Gramma Cookie & Big Al.
We got to have a Bigsy night by riding on the Sugar Cane Train.
Mom, I love trains so much it makes me want to pee my pants!!
Even after a big train ride, Bigs played with trains
Then we had a nice dinner and got to see a very good hula show.
The next morning we all took a cool whale watching ride.
Here's the entire family heading out.
Zoe just loves the ocean, although Izzy got a little seasick.
Al, Zoe and Cookie relax in front as they wait for the big whales.
Bigs just couldn't stay awake for the whales to jump (far right).
Then it happened--a massive blue jumped right by the boat!!
Cookie and Al watched the kids while Mom & Dad had dinner.
Ferraro's in The Four Seasons was a terrific place to have dinner.
On our final day, we met Cookie & Al at The Prince for brunch.
Here's Zoe finishing up some scrambled eggs and fruit.
Bigs and Dad feeding the koi in The pond.
There must be 1000 hungry koi in the ponds at The Prince.
Oh shoot, I guess we have to go
back to our normal lives.  Maybe
we'll be able to come back again
next year.  We sure hope so!!
Aloha from the Jacobins.
